A few local herps spotted last week - thought I'd share my observation of two adders side by side, only for one of them to slink off into the grass revealing he'd been sitting on a slow worm!
Just as 'The Beast from the East' blanketed the UK with snow, Paul and I escaped for a spot of herping in the Sunshine State - full report can be found here!

In 1987 a single specimen of X.acanthognathus was collected in Sabah. Borneo by R.F. Inger...
On the 25th November 2016 we were delighted to make only the second known observation of this snake during a night walk in Sarawak (trip report here). Following the confirmation of this record in the Herpetological Review 48(1)2017, I can now share with you the only known photographs of a living Bornean spine-jawed snake! |
