July 2021: An Arabian Summer
Another quick-hitter here... late July 2021 - duty called, and before I knew it a two-week Arabian visit had been and gone.
Here's a few pics from opportunistic searches during my free time.
Starting off with a beautiful painted carpet viper (Echis coloratus), found amongst the dying palms and scattered junk of an abandoned farm.

As usual, a few non-snakes were also photographed. The guilty party here comprise: Arabian toad, great grey shrike, little owl and what i think is a Pristurus (rock semaphore gecko) species.
My highlight of the visit was this Schokari sand racer (Psammophis schokari), an alert and swift little snake found in the gloaming, surrounded by mountains and desert.
Acanthodactylus were ever-present as always...
As were Arabian toad-headed agamas...
And to finish off, here's a sizeable diadem snake (Spalerosophis diadema) - always an absolute pleasure to witness out in the warm desert nights.
Thanks for reading/looking!
