February half-term meant that some of my teacher (and non-teacher) friends could make the journey up to Northumberland. A couple of trips to Bamburgh were unproductive bird-wise, aside from some nice views of oystercatchers, purple sandpipers and a mob of gulls enjoying some Seahouses fish and chips.
Then on to Kielder for some dark sky viewing and forest wandering...
Not a particularly entrepid exploration, but I needed to start February somewhere.
Still freezing - so many layers that I couldn't reach to tie my boots. Good start.
Nice but fleeting visit from great spotted woodpecker. Nuthatches didn't stop long either. Robins always game for a good pose though.
